Happy New Year!
2010 is bringing some changes to the Elam Environmental Center. Staff members of Girl Scouts of Ohio's Heartland Council, Inc. met at the end of 2009 to discuss the upcoming year's program goals, as well as to analyze our staffing needs.
Our goals for 2010 include maintaining existing high-quality programming both at the Elam Center/Camp Ken-Jockety and across the Council, while also exploring new program opportunities in an effort to better serve Girl Scouts, schools and other youth organizations.
The Elam Center will now maintain three full-time staff members. We hope this will allow us to offer a greater quantity and wider range of program opportunities and provide better service to our users. With this change, it is clear that we will have to significantly reduce the number hours allocated for part-time staff members. Consequently, efforts are underway to develop a strong network of volunteers and/or interns to assist with teaching programs, coordinating special events, and maintaining our camp facilities. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Sarah Kafer at 614-878-1382 or skafer@gsohiosheartland.org.
We at Elam are excited for the changes and challenges that the new year brings and are looking forward to seeing YOU in 2010!
